Suzuki Cello Studio

Emma Goodbehere is also a fully qualified Suzuki Cello teacher and has been teaching for 11 years now. Currently she runs a studio of about 30 students in Wellington and Upper Hutt.

The Cello studio invloves the child having a weekly private lesson and 3-4 group lessons per term.

By being part of a music studio, students gain confidence, fine motor skills, social and emotional skills as well as an appreciation of music. They feel the joy of playing music and later on can be involved in chamber music, orchestras and even become teachers themselves.

The lovely part of the Suzuki Method is seeing the older children mentor the younger students and seeing how much the younger ones look up to their older counterparts.

About the music

The beauty of the Suzuki Method means opportunity for indiviual lessons, group class, workshops and camps as the children learn the same repertoire. The music builds on skills learned in previous pieces of music and also introduces new technique.

What to do at home

It is expected that the child and parent practice together everyday and that the CD is listened to everyday. It is important to establish a routine.
